My thoughts from Lafayette

I'm here in Lafayette, La visiting the new nephew. He's a little over a month and Les spend 1 night feeding him so she could get a small taste of what's to come. She tapped out very early as her mom helped her w/ the feedings and cryings and changings throughout the night. I said that the night wasn't the test but the next day when you had to do it again and then the next night. She said F no and I laughed. Her baby fever may have been cured for a few months.

Here are some random thoughts:

As Alex Smith has displayed, you don't have to be a great or even good QB in order to have some timing w/ your receivers. He displayed it w/ Vernon Davis last year. I wonder if Leinart or Derek Anderson has been able to do the same in the off season w/ Fitzgerald. If not, I'd really hate to own Fitzgerald this year. In fact, I see him dropping in the 2nd round and stopping at Kras.

I don't know what the hype surrounding Cutler is all about. I know what Martz once did. Once upon a time, I was able to drink hard liquor for a night and repeat it the next day. That was then, this is now. I haven's seen or read anything that makes me think that the Bears offensive line has improved. In fact, I blame them for my horrible Forte pick of greatness last year. I say that Cutler will be more tackle dummy than either Warner or Bulger or Trent Green.

Josh shouldn't be too nervous about his Cowgirls. Their offense has looked horribly inept but once they get back the 2/5 of their starting offensive line back, they'll be good again. They have too many weapons not to be an offensive juggernaut. But my Romo will be fantasy god prediction sure looks to have less merit right now. Josh might even go w/ Schaub in the beginning of round 3 instead of Romo now.

The preponderance of RBBC makes me think that we may have 4 WR's get drafted in round 1 of our league. Despite what Shen has said, history says that he and Josh won't take a QB in rounds 1 or 2. I say that Vish and Cliff should hold off on taking Rodgers or Brees in round 1. Take the next best player that they like and there's a fair chance that they'll be available in round 2. The only wild card would be Soumya. But I believe that he'll hold off on a QB and point to his success in Favre last year. If Soumya bypasses on the QB's in the first 6 rounds, I think I know where he'll be going. Previous to Wisenhunt's decision to start Derek Anderson for week 3's preseason game, I thought that Sho would go Fitz and Megatron w/ his picks at 12 and 13. Now I think that he'll go Megatron and the RB of his choice. I predict that Shen and Josh will take Reggie Wayne and Miles Austin w/ their picks in round 1.

I really don't like how late we're drafting this year for my own selfish reason. A lot of my sleepers and deep sleepers are getting too much hype now. I'm just glad that most of you will be using fantasy magazines w/ 3-4 week old information.

I'm off to San Francisco on Tuesday as Les and I visit more new babies. As Sho would say...ciao bitches.

Why is it that Dennis already knows my 7th round pick when I don't even know my first?

Tim Tebow winds up like a baseball pitcher, but he did just have consecutive completions of 12 and 18 yards (with good pass protection).
