World Series Champs.
I don't know if anyone noticed or cared but the newsletter has been absent for the last 2 weeks. It's b/c I didn't want to take a chance on waking up from my incredible dream. I didn't want to jinx anything by either saying something about my Giants or making a point of not mentioning my Giants. I did something that was very very hard for me to do...shut my mouth. I don't get into baseball until the last 2 months of the season b/c 162 games is too much time and emotion for me. We caught the Padres but didn't clinch until the last game against the same Pads. We were underdogs against the Braves but had the honor of seeing Bobby Cox get his final ovation. We were huge underdogs against Ben's Phils and the famed Halladay, Hamels, and Oswalt trio (dubbed H2O). But as they say, you bring your best and we'll bring ours. This time our best was better. Once again, we were underdogs against the local Rangers. I got a lot of grief for going orange in DFW but was well rewarded in the end. 1st championship for the San Francisco Giants. The bay area and I don't count the NY Giants championships b/c that was NY and we're SF. It doesn't have the national press or lore of the Cubs and Red Sox pain but our 50 some odd years of disappointment was our burden. It has been lifted by the exact opposite of our Barry Bonds teams. We had no everyday superstars. Eventually, our best power hitter was someone we claimed off waivers just to keep him from getting to the Padres. But we had outstanding pitching from our starters to our bullpen as All Stars Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Shane Victorino, Jimmy Rollins, Josh Hamilton, Vlad Guerrero, Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz can attest to. I hope that it's truly a sign that PED's are gone and we'll now see the golden age of pitching and I hope that my Giants will be well represented for several years. And once again, THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS ARE THE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS.
