EVEN WHEN LDT MAKES AN APPEARANCE, I LOSE. versus IT WAS DESTINY FOR ME TO WIN TIM.
The game of the week honors comes to this game which was destined to be Shen's. To my surprise, LDT made an appearance and did quite well for T squared. It wasn't anything close to vintage LDT but it was good. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough. It would have been if he had started Bironas. I don't know what he was thinking but it ultimately cost him. Though it probably wasn't asking much from the Eagles to get the ball to LaShady more often when Westbrook went down w/ another injury. I love how Andy Reid calls plays like it's a video game where he forsakes the run. But even the vaunted Pats from 2 years ago never won the big prize. Even the usually dependable Hines Ward failed him. I thought that it was your game to win when MoJo took a knee at the one instead of going in for the TD. He even fumbled an exchange at the goal line but the fumble was assigned to Garrard instead. The Chargers were doing all they could for you by scoring on Shen's defense but it still wasn't enough. I'm sure that Shen loved his chances going into the Cowboy/Packer game. The Packers defense just gave up a kajillion points to the lowly Bucs and he had Romo. Instead the Cowboys went colder than Lambeau and the Packers were able to "essentially" shut out the Cowboys. I said "essentially" b/c Romo was able to engineer a garbage drive w/ a last second "meaningless" TD pass from Romo when the game was already decided. I say "meaningless" b/c it sure as hell mattered to Shen who won by all of 3.3 points. Shen knows that he escaped by the skin of his teeth. We'll see if destiny is truly on his side or if Stanford's season and his win this week was all the good fortune that he would have.
