The Running Backs

ALL DAY- if he learns how to pass block and gets more receptions, he'll be 2nd 2 none. he's averaged 100 yards per game played for his career. his goal is 2000 million yards for this year. he won't get it but he'll sure try. it will be interesting to see what happens when percy harvin joins him in the backfield. you can put 10 in the box and i can still see these guys getting through every now and then. where's my madden?

mojo- if he gets more receptions, he'll be a tougher version of westbrook in his prime. he's a human bowling ball of td's. the jags spent their first 2 draft picks on offensive lineman and got old ass tra thomas in an effort to dedicate themselves to the running game. personally, i'd take hiim #1.

And now a little something from Robot Chicken.

40- will the addition of jay cutler keep opposing defenses from stacking 8 in the box? if so, mr. 40 will get some nice running lanes. he caught a lot of balls last year due to mr. checkdown, kyle orton. i think his receptions will go down b/c of cutler's better arm and gunslinger attitude.

burner- he got the ball a billion times last year. his head coach has already said that it won't happen this year. i predict that the dirtybirds will have an improved passing attack w/ 2nd year QB matty ice and former chef gonzo. this means less chances for burner but he'll still be a workhorse in a league full of rbbc.

s jax- high risk. high reward. if he showed any ability to stay healthy, he'd get a lot more love throughout the fantasy universe. the lambs have NO ONE else on offense. they finally let pace go and used the #2 overall pick in the draft on a "stud" tackle. he came from baylor so please insert your baylor bear joke here.

slaton- domanick davis part deux? the texans had one of the best offenses last year. andre johnson was a huge part of it but opposing defenses were kept honest w/ slaton's emergence. his big negative is the possibility of a bigger back vulturing goal line carries. i actually think that h town will make the playoffs this year. they've already had enough horrible luck w/ yao ming out for the year, so i think the yang is due. i offered to make a bet w/ cliffy a few months ago regarding yao's proclivity for injuries. i was willing to spot him until january of next year and i said that yao would still miss something ridiculous like half the games left. cliffy declined.

chris johnson- he's that damn fast and he's that damn capable of breaking off a long run at any point in time. even w/ fatty vulturing goal line carries, he had a very good year. suppossedly, the titans will expand his role and try to take advantage of his explosive skills. fatty is trying to just be fat in the hopes of stealing more time and fantasy goodness from cj.

remember this toy from your past?

deangelo-the fantasy mvp for many playas last year. i don't know how many times he won $ for vish last year. unlike the playoffs, the panthers will stay dedicated to the run. most people doubt that he'll have as many td's as last year though. he could be the best value in round 1 if he drops into the later part as he has in the mock drafts.

gore, gore, gore- the best runner from the U should be excited as the 49ers will be changing to a heavy run based offense. if the defense gives up too many points it won't matter, though.

brandon jacobs-earth lost wind or was it fire? anyhow, he got his big contract so some people question if he will have the desire to fight for the yards cause he ain't fighting through injuries.

ldt- oh how the mighty have fallen. remember how alexander the great went from fantasy god to still really good and then MIA in like 3 years? too many touches for ldt people say. i say thanks for the memories. i wouldn't draft you till mid to late round 2. i also hope that i will get egg on my face b/c a good friend of mine is a super chargers fan.

portis- he started off w/ a bang like the rest of snyder's big money franchise. then he petered out just like the team. mr alias (way less hotter version than the TV show) has had a lot of touches through the years. the return of dockery may help the run game but it's not turning back father time. i see more betts in the future.

speaking of alias...

the barberian- i thought that he would have blown up w/ stupid as tough as orange julius gone last year. unfortunately, he didn't get as much love due to he who will turn on your QB's constant griping. the speculation is that mb3 is better off as a closer in a RBBC. the success of tashard choice and the explosive abilities of felix jones can lead one to see it happening.

westbrook-his injuries last season and his surgeries in the preseason led the eagles to drafting a rb w/ an early pick as the eventual heir apparent. if he's healthy, he'll get his spots but it looks like he'll be losing short yardage carries and then some in order to keep him healthier for the stretch run.
